The Arlo doorbell will work with Alexa, Google Assistant, Siri, Samsung SmartThings, or IFTTT integrations. Unlike some smart home devices, Arlo plays well. And now, you can save $100 on the brand’s cord-free version of the Essential Video Doorbell at Amazon. That’s half the usual $200 price, dropping to $100 for the white or black wrap. You can also get the same discount through the Arlo website directly.
The rechargeable battery inside makes the unit easy to install, especially if your front entryway isn’t already connected to a doorbell. It connects directly to your WiFi and provides a wide, head-to-toe view of who or whoever is at the door of your smart phone or smart screen. The display extends all the way so you can see the beams and the built-in microphone and speaker let you hear and speak to visitors.
If you’d rather go wired, the Basic Wired Video Doorbell is 47 percent off, bringing this unit down to $80. Not only do you save $20 over the sale price of the cordless unit, but you also don’t have to recharge the battery. Just be sure to wire the doorbell to at least 16 volts. Our senior editor hit that snag when he installed an Arlo wired doorbell in his new home. After upgrading his current adapter, he appreciated the coverage and peace of mind he got from the doorbell along with a few Arlo Pro 3 security cameras.
The latest model of Arlo’s professional outdoor camera, the Pro 4 Spotlight, is only 5% off right now, for a saving of $10. But you can save 27 percent on a two-pack of the Essential Spotlight Outdoor Camera. Like the Pro 4s, they offer spot light, two-way audio, night vision, and direct WiFi connectivity, but with a lower resolution at 1080p and a slightly narrower field of view at 130 degrees.
Arlo wired indoor cameras are also on sale, with a 20 percent discount that brings them down to $80. That’s not quite as big of a deal as we saw on the cameras last month, but it could still ease the cost of getting into setting up a home with video coverage inside and out.
